Guide

Get started with Asset Desk

From install to your first repaired place in about ten minutes.

1. Install

Download the installer from the home page and run it. Asset Desk runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and updates itself when a new version is out.

If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway. This appears for new apps that Windows has not seen often yet.

2. Log in with Discord

Open Asset Desk and click Link Discord Account. Your browser opens the Asset Desk login page. Approve it with Discord and you are signed in to the app. Your Discord account is your Asset Desk account, so there is no extra password.

3. Connect Roblox Studio

  1. In Asset Desk, open Settings → Studio Connector.
  2. Click Open the Roblox Plugins folder and put AssetDeskConnector.rbxmx in it. Restart Studio if it was open.
  3. Click Copy Token.
  4. In Studio, open Plugins → Asset Desk, paste the token and click Connect.

The status in Asset Desk turns to connected. The plugin only works in edit mode, so stop any playtest before scanning.

4. Download access

Under Settings → Download Access, add the account Asset Desk should use to read assets:

  • Roblox Cookie: open roblox.com in your browser and sign in, press F12 → Application → Cookies → https://www.roblox.com, and copy the .ROBLOSECURITY value.
  • Creator API Key and Group API Key: create these in the Roblox Creator Dashboard under Open Cloud → API Keys, with asset read and write permission, for uploading to your account or group.
Your cookie and keys are saved in Windows Credential Manager on your own PC. They are never sent to Asset Desk servers. Never share your cookie with anyone; it signs in to your Roblox account.

5. Upload destination

Under Settings → Upload Destination, choose whether repaired assets go to a Roblox Group or your Creator Account, and enter its Group ID or Creator ID. The ID is the number in the group or profile link.

6. Scan and repair

  1. Open your place in Studio, then click Scan Studio in Asset Desk.
  2. Asset Desk checks every asset. Each one gets a status: Verified (working), Unverified, No Access (needs permission) and so on.
  3. Click repair. Assets with a confirmed permission problem are downloaded, uploaded to your destination as new assets, and their new IDs are written into your place.

Working and unverified assets are kept as they are. Only assets with confirmed permission issues are repaired.

Asset Downloader

Paste an asset ID and download the file. This is free, one asset at a time. Downloading many IDs at once with the Batch Downloader is part of Premium.

Asset Uploader

Add files and upload them to your destination as new assets. The history keeps every new ID, with a link to open it in the Creator Dashboard.

Music Uploader

Add audio files or a link, and Asset Desk converts and uploads them as new Roblox audio. You can add up to 1 GB of files at a time.

Credits and Premium

Free accounts get 25 upload credits a day. Each new upload uses one; a failed upload gives it back. The credit bar shows how many are left and when they reset.

Premium is activated with a key. Redeem it in Settings → Asset Desk Account. Your time starts when the key is redeemed, and new keys add to the time you have left. Premium plans are announced on our Discord.
